At Reality Check Counseling, we are committed to providing services that are pragmatic and straightforward. We work collaboratively with clients from the first session to the last to agree on goals and generate strategies. This is an interactive process, not a passive one, and accordingly we encourage and welcome questions and discussion about everything that's going on in the room. We will do our best to avoid evasive, mysterious, or jargon-filled answers. We will make it a point to talk with you as an intelligent adult.

Additionally, we specialize in working with folks with non-traditional lifestyles. If you identify as goth, hippie, punk, geek, or Burner; if you're bisexual, lesbian/gay, queer, trans, or genderqueer; if you're into BDSM, or polyamorous, or in an open relationship, you may have had bad experiences with a therapist's hidden (or not-so-hidden) judgments. We at Reality Check have worked with, lived with, and played with folks from all over the map of non-conformity. We will meet you where you are, and we won't be freaked out by your identity or behavior. Because of our experience with "outsiders,” we can focus on what brings you to therapy right from the first session, instead of you having to educate us about your community or practice.
